Getting there...
The two major points of entry for overseas visitors are Auckland and Christchurch. (Australian competitors may wish to fly into Dunedin, which handles only Trans Tasman International flights-and cur down on driving time). For those not wishing to drive to Omarama the local airfield is capable of handling up to light twin engined aircraft, and it is possible to charter a suitable shuttle from either Christchurch or Dunedin airports. Most people will probably choose to fly into
Christchurch, and take a rental car, van or camper van (RV) from there
south to Omarama. All the major rental firms—Hertz. Avis, Budget etc are
well represented at all major airports. |
